Simon Murray was born in Perth, Scotland and with a love of photography that started over 25 years ago.
I have developed my passion for photography into a style that evokes a sense of transparency and enjoyment.
“People in front of his lens, genuinely have a good time. Simon calls that therapy; not sure if that’s for him or the subject”.
My style allows freedom of movement and inspiration and I can be seen photographing a wide range of subjects. Mostly people, whether that be in fashion, music or the arts where I have worked with individuals from models, actors and presenters to large companies such as BT, Armani, The Scotsman and Vidal Sassoon.
We had such a great experience with Simon at our wedding. The weather was pretty terrible so he adapted to taking photos inside and waited for a break in the weather to get some outside. He was so professional and friendly throughout and got so many beautiful shots. We couldn’t be happier with the photos and so glad we chose Simon, he’s extremely talented! Simon was such an amazing photographer to capture our big day. He managed with ease trying to orchestrate a large wedding party including children and animals and the pictures are just great. He is super friendly and relaxed which is welcome on such a big day with a lot of moving parts and even stayed later to capture the start of the dancing as we were running behind in terms of timings on the day. He was also super quick in sharing the final edited pictures and was just a pleasure to work with from scoping out the images we wanted vs capturing elements we didn’t see ourselves on the day. Simon, booked at short notice, took incredible photographs and we could not have been happier with the quality and range of images.
More importantly, Simon was so kind, patient generous with his time on the day. We had some small children there and he dealt with the inevitable running around perfectly! More especially with such a small wedding, he tied the small details together in the images. Simon and his wife Jayneanne documented or wedding day on the 12th of March at Murrayshall country estate. We booked Simon for our wedding at Comrie Croft in April just passed. Very professional and easy going and he and his partner worked with us to get the photos we wanted throughout the day. Would thoroughly recommend the Premium package to get most out of the day and having the extra camera person was useful. Booked for our wedding in Nov 21 and so pleased we did. We’re not normally ones for being photographed but Simon and his wife made the whole experience feel very relaxed and we’ve some absolutely incredible pictures to show for it!
We’re having a separate reception in Oct this year and delighted that Simon will be covering photos for us again.

My wife and I used Simon for our pre wedding and wedding photo shoots and it was a great experience! We luckily contacted Simon when we could visit him in person and loved his portfolio of wedding shots and had no hesitation in engaging him and it was a great decision! We had Simon as our wedding photographer a few weeks ago and he was great, he was really friendly and chatty and I’m so happy with the photos he took. We were married less than a week ago & already we have our wedding photos back from Simon. Ours was a simple Registry office wedding, just the two of us. Simon took us to some lovely gardens to have the photos taken, we chatted & laughed & just had a lovely time during the whole experience. Simon also went that extra mile & suggested he take some photos on my phone (I’m sure he sensed how desperate I was to have some to surprise family & friends) then later on when we were finished & Simon had packed everything away my new husband discovered my sisters gift of a “just married” lucky horseshoe in his pocket which he had forgotten to give me after the ceremony. Without hesitation Simon suggested he take some more photos & set about unpacking his camera once again!
We’re so pleased we chose Simon to share our special day, friendly, patient, professional and on top of all that, takes great photos too!

Simon has been great to work with since day 1. He responded quickly and effectively to any enquiries we had.. Even the little silly ones.
On the day Simon helped us both to feel relaxed and not stress about the pictures..it got to the point I might have forgotten he was there. He was in no way intrusive.
Turn over for photos was very quick.. Around 5 days. Alot quicker than we had imagined.
I would highly recommend Simon to anyone requiring a photographer for any event big or small.

about Simon Murray Photography, PERTH
After studying photography for 4 years in Glasgow and finishing with a Distinction in an HND in Photography, I went freelance and travelled the world a bit. At one point I got a job assisting a top photographer in his Broadway Studio in New York. In London I had photography work exhibited in the V&A Museum and the Golden Square Gallery in SoHo. Also while bringing up a young family I managed to shoehorn in a BA Hons Degree in Visual Communication Design at Middlesex University, London where I received a First. My background is in Fashion and Portrait photography which I have enjoyed doing for over 25 years, photographing people, models, celebrities, actors and musicians. These days I am back in my beloved city of Perth. Perhaps the work is different from that down in Leeds and London but I am prepared to take on any challenge big or small.
